POLYCAPROLACTONE (PCL)
Polycaprolactone (PCL)is a biocompatible and biodegradable material that stimulates collagen and elastin synthesis. It’s been successfully used in tissue engineering and wound repair for more than 70 years. PCL is used for absorbable sutures, contraceptive implants and for 3D tissue and/or organ replacement.
Commercially-available polycaprolactone-based fillers are not yet available in the US but over 600,000 syringes have been safely used in Europe with an adverse event reported in only 1 out of 1,769 syringes.
Polycaprolactone degrades slower than polylactic acid (Sculptra®), prolonging the duration of results beyond two years.
