Our Month by Month Guide to Putting Your Best Face Forward

After helping so many of our clients prepare for some of the most important events in their lives, the joy we get when seeing their beautiful results captured in photos from those big days is indescribable. Assisting clients in looking and feeling their best for special occasions is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

The final three months before a big even are a critical time to strategically take advantage of treatments that maximize your appearance. High-resolution photographs capture every detail and flaw so it's important to use expert aesthetic clinicians to look your best.

While starting sooner is always recommended, you can usually achieve a dramatic transformation in just 90 days. Many aesthetic treatments take more than eight weeks to produce maximal improvement so don’t wait.

Whether you’re getting ready for a wedding, a reunion, an event that your ex is attending with their new partner, or even your turn on “Dancing With the Stars”, the earlier you get started on a professional strategy, the more successful and less stressful the process will be.

"One of my favorite things as an aesthetician is when a patient comes in flashing that beautiful engagement ring and tells me she's getting married. I love helping my brides prepare for their big day, and having been the mother of the bride 3 times in the past 9 years, I also understand that it's not just the bride who wants to look and feel her best."

Consult with an aesthetic specialist to determine your goals for your appearance and don't be afraid to discuss budget. It's our job to help you maximize what you've got to work with and being realistic will help to ease your stress instead of adding to it.

We’ll put together a plan for you to start immediately that combines the best at-home professional skin products and in-office treatments to get you the results by your big day that you’ve dreamed of.

Tip - Eat as healthy as possible, stay hydrated, and make sure you get enough sleep and exercise. Remember that what is happening internally shows up externally.

Treatments to improve acne scars, blotchy pigment, fine lines, and large pores usually require a series of treatments and/or up to eight weeks to obtain maximal results.

Fractionated ablative lasers like Profractional can remove fine lines and improve most scars but because some people experience redness for weeks after a treatment, it’s a good idea to have it at least eight weeks before the event.

For longer lashes, start applying the lash “fertilizer”, bimatoprost daily.

Tip - Visit your dentist to discuss whitening your teeth or start using Crest 3D white strips. Try blue-based or cool-toned lip colors, like berry or red, to help make your teeth look even whiter.

If you have any resting expression lines, like forehead, frown lines, or crow’s feet, start getting neuromodulator treatments like Botox, now. It can take a week to see results and starting early will allow time to tweak the results if needed.

Feature enhancement with fillers provides results that last about a year but starting early will provide a chance to make adjustments, if desired.

To correct wrinkles or sagging from lost volume, have one of our expert clinicians provide global recontouring with fillers. Lift your jawline, brows or neck with absorbable lifting threads.

Remember, your skin extends beyond your face. Use IPL now for brown spots on your chest or arms because it can take a few weeks for them to flake away.

Use body lotions with mild chemical exfoliants a few times a week to remove dull skin.

Tips - if you've ever had cold sores, let us know and we can prescribe an antiviral medication to prevent any stress-related outbreaks.

1 month before:

Do not try anything new! This includes skin care products, laundry detergent, everything.

Top off any injectable treatments if needed at least three weeks before your event and finish any corrective skin treatments.

If your dress is backless, have a Hydrafacial on your back to help keep it smooth & blemish-free (It's really a thing and it's AMAZING).

Tip - Start doing weekly deep conditioning treatments for your hair. Hydrated hair will allow the cuticle to lay down smoother which will reflect light better and make hair appear glossier. You can visit a salon or DIY. Apply deep conditioner, pile hair on top of your head & put a cheap plastic shower cap on to lock in heat and provide better product absorption. Wait about 30 minutes and then wash your hair as usual.

2 Weeks Before:

Get either a Hydrafacial or a Dermaplaning treatment. Both make excellent pre-event facials & leave skin luminous in the days following the treatment. Together you & your aesthetician will decide which is best for you.

The week of:

Have your pre-event Hydrafacial. Your work is done, you gave it your all and now it's time to try to relax, be present in the moment, and enjoy yourself.

Tip - Take comfort in knowing that pretty much anything can be fixed with photoshop.

Remember that if there's something about the appearance of your skin that you want to improve, even just before your event, there may be something we can offer to help. We've got a lot of tricks up our sleeve & can put together a beauty checklist to meet your needs in the time you've got!
