The Difference Between Neuromodulators
All injectable wrinkle relaxants contain a type of botulinum toxin and differ slightly in their formulation. Each has different proteins or peptides to stabilize them, producing differences in onset and duration of results.
Botox® Cosmetic was the first aesthetic neuromodulator approved by the FDA in 1989. It has also been used safely for a variety of medical conditions, including migraine headaches and muscle spasticity. The clinicians at Skinspirations have performed over 21,000 Botox® treatments and trained many of the providers in Tampa Bay.
Results from Botox usually become visible within 3 – 10 days and last an average of about three to four months. Pricing for Botox® Cosmetic at Skinspirations ranges from $9 to $12 per unit, depending on the total number of units used.
Dysport™ is a neuromodulator that has been FDA-approved since 2009 and is considered so safe that it’s approved for spasticity in children. The effects of Dysport usually become evident within 2 – 5 days, and results last an average of about three to four months. When used in comparable doses, the price of Dysport is roughly equivalent to Botox and Jeuveau.
Jeuveau is another neuromodulator that usually produces results within 2 – 3 days and results last an average of three to five months. The price per unit of Jeuveau at Skinspirations is the same as Botox. Daxxify® is the only neuromodulator manufactured in the USA and the only one free of any animal-based components. About 50% more units of Daxxify are needed than Botox, and Skinspirations’ price for each unit ranges from $6.75 to $9, depending on the total number used.
MicroTox (also known as MesoTox)
MicroTox is a technique in which multiple tiny doses of Botox or Dysport or Jeuveau are placed just below the surface of the skin rather than into the belly of the muscles. This technique can produce a lifting and firming effect on the skin, and decreases pore size, fine lines, redness, and oil production. It can also be done on the neck to produce a lifted, more defined profile.
The treatment uses tiny needles, smaller than a human hair, to deliver the neuromodulator solution to the level of the sweat and oil glands just below the skin’s surface.
The duration of results for Microbotox is usually three to four months. Depending on the size of the areas treated, the dose used varies between twenty to eighty units of Botox or Jeuveau (corresponding to roughly fifty to two hundred units of Dysport).
